Robert Indiana created many versions of his iconic LOVE painting. Love Rising (The Black and White Love) was dedicated by the artist to Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated on April 4, 1968. The original 12-foot quadripartite painting, the largest of Indiana’s LOVE walls, was first exhibited that same year in the MoMA exhibition In Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. The work is reproduced here with this framed poster.
