MoMA Exclusive: This set of 12 Blackwing pencils was produced to celebrate the MoMA exhibition Ruth Asawa: A Retrospective. The pencils feature quotes by Ruth Asawa, an artist represented in MoMA’s collection, that reflect her work as an artist and educator. The set is crafted in Japan and features six quotes:

1. “There are times when I discovered something from a mistake.”
2. “Doing is living. That is all that matters.”
3. “I’m interested in finding solutions to problems.”
4. “Each material has a nature of its own.”
5. “A line can go anywhere.”
6. “My philosophy is my work.”
